Google Workspace Integration
Connect your Google Workspace account (or a gmail.com account) to Revelry Ai to work with Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides from chat. Once connected, the AI can search and read Drive files, read mail and prepare drafts, check calendar availability, and pull content from Docs, Sheets, and Slides — scoped to what that Google account can see.
The connection is yours. Chat replies, artifacts, and documents that include Google data follow normal organization sharing, so other members may see them.
Prerequisites
- A Google account (Google Workspace on a company domain, or gmail.com)
- The Google Workspace integration enabled for your organization
- If you use Google Workspace, your Workspace admin may need to allow Revelry Ai as a third-party app
What You Can Do
Each Google service is its own set of tools. You choose which services the AI can reach:
- Drive — Search files by name and content, read file text, list recent files, and check a file's metadata and sharing permissions
- Gmail — Search threads with Gmail search syntax, read threads and messages, list labels and drafts, and prepare a draft reply or new message
- Calendar — List your calendars, list and search events, read an event's attendees and responses, and check free/busy availability
- Docs — Read a document's text
- Sheets — Read a spreadsheet's structure and cell values from any range
- Slides — Read a presentation's text slide by slide
Everything is read-only except Gmail drafts. The AI never sends email. Creating a draft goes through the approval gate, and the draft lands in your Gmail Drafts folder for you to review and send yourself.
Reading files from Drive
Google Docs and Slides are read as plain text and Google Sheets as CSV (first sheet only; ask for a specific range to read another tab). Long content is cut off at roughly 50,000 characters, and files over 10 MB are not read in chat.
Microsoft Office files stored in Drive (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) cannot be read in place. When the AI hits one, the tool result offers an Import into Revelry Ai button that uploads the file to your Knowledge Base so you can work with it there.
Exporting artifacts to Drive
On any artifact page, Export to Google Drive saves the artifact to your Drive as a Google Doc. Exporting again later updates that same Doc, and Open in Google Drive takes you to it. This is the only way the integration writes to Drive, and it can only touch documents Revelry Ai created.
Connecting Google Workspace
- Go to the Integrations page (under My Organization in your account menu at the bottom of the left navigation)
- Open the Personal tab
- Find Google Workspace and click Connect
- Sign in to Google and review the requested access
- Allow the request and you'll be redirected back to Revelry Ai
The connection page shows Connected as your Google name and email so you can confirm the right account is linked.
What you authorize
Revelry Ai can read your files, mail, and calendar; it can draft mail but never send it; and it only writes files it created.
The connection requests these Google scopes:
| Scope | What it allows |
|---|---|
openid | Lets Google return an ID token so Revelry Ai can identify the connected account |
userinfo.profile | Read your name and picture so the app can show which Google account is connected |
userinfo.email | Read your email address for the "Connected as" label |
drive.readonly | Search, read, and download files in Drive |
drive.file | Create new files, and edit only files Revelry Ai created. Your original files are never modified |
gmail.readonly | Search and read mail |
gmail.compose | Create drafts. This scope can technically send mail; sending is blocked in the product — there is no send tool |
calendar.calendarlist.readonly | List your calendars |
calendar.events.readonly | Read calendar events |
calendar.events.freebusy | Check availability |
documents.readonly | Read Google Docs |
spreadsheets.readonly | Read Google Sheets |
presentations.readonly | Read Google Slides |
The per-service checkboxes on the integration page control which tools are available in chat. They do not change which scopes were granted at connect time.
If Google warns that the app is unverified
While Google verification is in progress, Google may show a warning during sign-in. Only continue if your organization has already vetted Revelry Ai. Do not treat the warning as something to click through by default.
Data handling and privacy
- OAuth tokens are stored encrypted and deleted when you disconnect. Disconnecting also revokes access at Google.
- Content retrieved from Google is processed by the LLM provider powering the chat. It is not used to train models.
- AI replies that include Google data persist in chats. Content saved to artifacts or documents follows normal organization sharing, so other members may see it.
- Disconnecting does not delete content already pulled into chats or artifacts.
See the Privacy Policy — Connected Services for the full statement, including the Google API Services User Data Policy Limited Use commitment.
Choosing Services
After connecting, the integration page shows a Toolsets section with a checkbox for each Google service. All six are on by default. Uncheck any service you don't want the AI to reach and click Save services. Only the checked services' tools are offered in chat. You can change the selection without reconnecting; this does not change the scopes already granted.
Using Google Workspace in Chat
- Start or continue a chat
- Open the Chat Tools menu, choose Integrations, and switch on the Google services you want (each service appears as its own toggle inside the Google Workspace card)
- Ask about your Google data naturally
Example prompts:
- "Find the punch list PDF in my Drive and summarize it"
- "Do I have any emails from the architect about RFI 14?"
- "Draft a reply to that thread confirming we'll have the revised drawings by Friday"
- "What's on my calendar Thursday afternoon, and when am I free?"
- "Read the budget totals from the Q3 forecast spreadsheet"
- "Who has access to the site safety plan document?"
The AI calls the appropriate service's tools, and you'll see tool execution cards showing what was retrieved. The same toggles are available in the skill builder, so Skills can use Google tools when they run.
Searches and lists come back a page at a time. For large result sets the AI may make several calls or ask you to narrow the request.
Managing the Connection
- Navigate to Integrations and open Google Workspace on the Personal tab
- Adjust the enabled services, or click Disconnect
Disconnecting revokes Revelry Ai's access at Google and deletes the stored credentials. Content already pulled into chats or artifacts is not deleted, and Docs you exported stay in Drive. It does not affect anyone else's connection.
Troubleshooting
The Google Workspace card or toggle is missing. The integration may not be enabled for your organization (contact your Revelry Ai team), or you haven't connected an account yet.
Chat says "Your Google Workspace connection needs to be restored". Google rejected the stored credentials, usually because you removed Revelry Ai from your Google account permissions. Reconnect from the integration page. Normal token refresh is handled automatically.
Searches come back empty for files you know exist. Results are limited to what your Google account can see and to the services you have checked. Files shared with a different account, items in the trash, and services you unchecked won't appear. Confirm you connected the right account.
Your Workspace admin blocks the connection. Google Workspace organizations can restrict which third-party apps may access company data. If authorization fails with an admin-policy message, ask your Google Workspace admin to allow Revelry Ai.
Chat says "Google Workspace rate limit exceeded". Google limits how many requests an app can make. Wait a moment and try again.
A Drive file "has binary content" or "has no text export". Images, PDFs with no text layer, Google Forms, and Google Drawings cannot be read as text. Office files can be imported into your Knowledge Base instead.
