Knowledge

Knowledge is where your organization's documents, collections, and data sources live in Revelry Ai. The AI can search it during chats for context about your business, projects, and data.

When you turn on Knowledge in a chat, the AI can search the documents you have access to and use what it finds in its answers.

How Knowledge works in chat

The AI searches Knowledge through a set of chat tools that it calls during a conversation.

When Knowledge is on in Chat Tools, the AI can search your documents for passages related to your question and use them in its answer. Knowledge is off by default in new chats.

Revelry Ai stores each document as embeddings, which are numeric representations of meaning. That lets the AI find content by topic even when the exact words differ.

Revelry Ai can also search by exact words, look up documents by name, and read the text around a match. See MCP Tools for every Knowledge tool.

What goes into Knowledge

Click Knowledge in the left navigation. It opens on Documents, with tabs for Documents, Collections, and Sources.

Content that Revelry Ai provides to every organization shows a Global pill next to its name in all three lists.

Documents

You can upload PDFs, Word files, images, VTT transcripts, Markdown, code, and other text files, up to 200 MB per upload. Revelry Ai splits each document except images into passages and indexes them for search by meaning and by exact words.

When Knowledge is on and the chat uses a model that supports images, the AI can describe image documents and pull text or data from them.

When you save an artifact to Knowledge, it becomes a document that later chats can search once it finishes processing.

Collections

A collection groups documents and data sources so you can limit a search to them, for example an "Engineering Standards" collection.

In a project with collections set, new chats start with those collections already selected.

note

Project collections are off by default. Contact your Revelry Ai team to enable.

Data sources

A data source connects an outside system and keeps its content synced into Knowledge:

note

Google Sheets, Notion, and Website sources are off by default. Contact your Revelry Ai team to enable.

When you connect a data source, Revelry Ai turns each item it syncs into a document the AI can search like an upload.

Controlling what the AI searches

These settings decide what the AI can reach:

  • Turn Knowledge on or off for each chat in the Chat Tools menu. It's off by default.
  • Filter Knowledge search to specific collections, data sources, or document types
  • Ask the AI to list only your organization's collections, documents, and data sources, or only Global ones
  • Group access decides which documents, collections, and data sources each person can see. Organization Admins manage group access.
  • Only artifacts you save with Save to Knowledge become documents

This means you can have private work-in-progress that the AI won't surface, while keeping your approved, finalized content available as context.
