Documents

Upload files to Knowledge so chats with Knowledge turned on can search them.

Overview

In Revelry Ai, a document is a single item of content in Knowledge. A document is created when:

  • You upload a file
  • You save an artifact to Knowledge
  • A data source imports content

These documents are stored as vector embeddings, which enable semantic searches within Revelry Ai and provide context for AI conversations.

Manually uploaded documents

Before you start: you need permission to upload documents in at least one group. If you don't have it, the + button is disabled. You can add up to 100 files per upload, up to 200 MB in total. The upload window lists the file types your organization can upload, including PDF, Word, Markdown, plain text, CSV, common code files, and images.

  1. Go to Knowledge > Documents.
  2. Click the + button (tooltip "Add documents") at the top right.
  3. Drag files onto the upload window, or click select a file from your computer. On a phone, tap Tap here to select a file from your device.
  4. Review the files under Confirm Upload.
  5. If your organization has collections, choose any you want in Collections.
  6. In Groups, choose at least one group. Your organization's default group is filled in if you belong to it.
  7. Click Upload.

The window shows "Uploading documents..." until the upload finishes.

To add documents to a collection later, see Collections.

Artifact documents

Revelry Ai doesn't add artifacts to Knowledge on its own. A document is created only when you click Save to Knowledge on an artifact.

Data source documents

When you connect a data source, such as a GitHub repository, Revelry Ai imports its content in the background and creates a document for each file or item. See Data sources.

Document download

After a document finishes processing, you can download it from its detail page or from the download icon in the documents list.

  1. Go to Knowledge > Documents.
  2. Click a document to open its detail page.
  3. Click Download to save the file to your computer.

Downloads return the original file when Revelry Ai kept one, which includes your uploads. Otherwise the download is the document's extracted text.
