Autodesk & BuildingConnected Integration

Connect your Autodesk account to Revelry Ai to work with BuildingConnected from chat: your bid board, opportunities, bid packages, bid forms, projects, contacts, and offices. With your approval, the AI can also create and update opportunities and bid packages.

Autodesk is a personal integration. Each user connects their own Autodesk account, and every BuildingConnected action runs with that user's own permissions. Other Autodesk products may be added to the same connection later.

Prerequisites

  • An Autodesk account with access to BuildingConnected for your company
  • The Autodesk and BuildingConnected integrations must be enabled for your organization

What You Can Do

Bid board and opportunities

  • List the opportunities (bid invitations) on your bid board, filtered by client company or by when they were last updated
  • Get an opportunity's details: project, bid due dates, and current bid status
  • Create an opportunity manually, with client, due dates, trade, and pipeline-tracking details
  • Update an opportunity, including its bid status: accept it (Will Submit), decline it with a reason, or reset it to Undecided

Bid packages and bid forms

  • List bid packages for your company or a project, and get one package's scopes and invited bidders
  • Create a bid package (a scope of work to be bid) on a project
  • Update a bid package's name, lead, estimated cost, instructions, or dates
  • List and read project bid forms and scope-specific bid forms, and read their line items

Submitted bids

  • List the bids subcontractors submitted, for a bid package or a project, with bidder company, totals, and revision. All revisions are included unless you ask for the latest only.
  • Get one bid's details and attachments
  • Read a bid's line items as the bidder entered them
  • Read the plugs on a bid: the adjusted line-item values your team entered on the bid leveling form
  • Fetch a bid attachment as a short-lived download link

Projects, people, and offices

  • List and search projects by name or number, including closed projects when asked
  • Get a project's details
  • List contacts (with company, email, and phone), users in your company, and your company's office locations
  • Look up the connected BuildingConnected user

Write actions require approval. Creating or updating an opportunity or bid package pauses in chat with the proposed details. Choose Approve, Always Allow, or Deny. Always Allow lets later actions of that type in the same conversation run without another prompt. See Approval gate. Updates change only the fields you name, and everything else on the record stays as it was. Nothing in the integration deletes records.

Connecting Autodesk

  1. Go to the Integrations page (under My Organization in your account menu at the bottom of the left navigation)
  2. Open the Personal tab
  3. Find Autodesk and click Connect
  4. Sign in to Autodesk and allow the request
  5. You'll be redirected back to Revelry Ai with the connection marked Connected

Revelry Ai asks Autodesk for permission to read your data and to create or change data on your behalf. Because the connection acts as you, the AI can only see and change what your Autodesk account can already see and change in BuildingConnected.

There are no settings to configure after connecting.

Using BuildingConnected in Chat

Once connected, the AI can use BuildingConnected during chat when the integration is enabled:

  1. Start or continue a chat
  2. Open the Chat Tools menu, choose Integrations, and switch BuildingConnected on inside the Autodesk card
  3. Ask about your bid board naturally

Example prompts:

  • "What bids are due this week?"
  • "Show me the opportunities from Turner that we haven't decided on yet"
  • "Decline the Riverside parking deck bid because we're too busy"
  • "List the bid packages on the Memorial Hospital project and who has been invited"
  • "Read the line items on the concrete bid form for that project"
  • "Create a bid package called Electrical on the Oak Street project with bids due next Friday"

The AI calls the appropriate BuildingConnected tools, and you'll see tool execution cards showing what was retrieved. The same toggle is available in the skill builder, so skills can use BuildingConnected tools when they run.

Lists come back a page at a time. For large result sets the AI may make several calls or ask you to narrow the request.

Managing the Connection

  1. Navigate to Integrations and open Autodesk on the Personal tab
  2. The page shows the connection status and the access granted
  3. Click Disconnect to remove the connection

Disconnecting deletes the stored credentials from Revelry Ai and disables the BuildingConnected tools for you. It does not affect anyone else's connection. To also revoke Revelry Ai's access in Autodesk, remove it from your Autodesk account's connected apps.

Troubleshooting

The Autodesk card is missing from the Integrations page. The integration may not be enabled for your organization. Contact your Revelry Ai team.

Autodesk is connected but does not appear in the Chat Tools menu. BuildingConnected tools may not be enabled for your organization yet. Contact your Revelry Ai team.

Chat says "BuildingConnected is not connected". Connect your Autodesk account from the Integrations page, then switch BuildingConnected on in the Chat Tools menu.

Chat says "Your BuildingConnected connection needs to be restored". Autodesk rejected the stored credentials, usually because access was revoked from your Autodesk account. Reconnect from the integration page. Normal token expiry is handled automatically and never needs a reconnect.

Chat says "BuildingConnected API error (HTTP 403)". Your Autodesk account does not have access to that project, opportunity, or company in BuildingConnected. Check your access in BuildingConnected itself.

Chat says "BuildingConnected rate limit exceeded". Autodesk limits how many requests an app can make. Wait the number of seconds shown and try again.

A bid attachment link no longer works. Attachment links are short-lived by design. Ask the AI to fetch the attachment again.
