Creating & Managing Agents
Agents are managed at the organization level from the Agents tab on the Tools page in the left navigation. Tools opens on Agents by default. The list shows every active Agent in your organization; archived Agents are hidden.
Access requirements. Agents require the Agents and Organization Management features to be enabled for your organization, plus the relevant permissions described below. If you don't see the Agents area, contact the Revelry Ai team.
Permissions
Agent actions are permission-gated within your organization:
| Action | Permission |
|---|---|
| View Agents and their details | View Agents |
| Create a new Agent | Create Agents |
| Edit an existing Agent | Update Agents |
| Archive an Agent | Archive Agents |
The Create Agent action is only available when the Organization Management feature flag is enabled for your organization. Creating an Agent also requires the Manage Skills permission in addition to Create Agents, since building an Agent involves assigning your organization's Skills to it.
Creating an Agent
- Go to the Agents page and choose New Agent.
- Fill in the Agent Details:
- Name (required): what the Agent is called. Must be unique within your organization, up to 128 characters.
- Description (optional): a brief summary of what the Agent does and what sets it apart, up to 512 characters.
- Instructions (required): the detailed behavioral prompt. Describe the Agent's tone, area of expertise, the tasks it should excel at, and any rules it must follow. These instructions are applied to every message in a conversation with this Agent.
- Featured: featured Agents are prominently suggested to users on a new chat; non-featured Agents can still be chatted with from the Agents page. See Chatting with an Agent.
- Add any Skills. Use the Skills selector to attach one or more of your organization's Skills. These become the Skills the Agent can run during chat.
- Add any Recommended Prompts (see below).
- Click Save. Use Cancel to discard your changes.
Recommended Prompts
Recommended Prompts give users a one-click way to start a conversation with the Agent. Each prompt has two parts:
- Tagline (required, up to 128 characters): the short, user-facing label (for example, "Draft a project kickoff summary").
- Prompt (required): the actual text that gets pre-filled into the chat input when the user clicks the tagline.
To manage them in the Agent form:
- Click Add New to add a prompt.
- Use the up and down arrows to reorder prompts. The order here is the order users see.
- Use the trash icon to remove a prompt.
Editing an Agent
Open an Agent from the Agents list to view its details, then choose Edit Agent (requires the Update Agents permission). You can change any field, adjust its Skills, and add, reorder, or remove Recommended Prompts. Save to apply your changes.
Archiving an Agent
From an Agent's detail page, choose Archive Agent (requires the Archive Agents permission) and confirm. Archiving removes the Agent from the active list and from chat. Archiving cannot be undone.
